Designed to the most demanding specifications, tested and used by combat units across the globe, the FN SCAR® is not just one rifle, it is an entire family that covers the full range of requirements of the modern soldier including the FN SCAR-L and the FN SCAR-H assault rifles, the FN SCAR-SC subcompact carbines, the FN SCAR-H PR and TPR precision rifles.
The highly innovative design of the FN SCAR® combines outstanding performance in all conditions with unlimited modularity and flexibility. Ergonomic commonality and parts commonality throughout the FN SCAR® family ensure simplified armorer and user level training and reduced life cycle costs.
The FN SCAR in different configurations is now in service with Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Finland, France, Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mauritius, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Saudia Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, and United States.
The SCAR assault rifle is manufactured in two main versions including the SCAR-L using 5.56X45mm NATO ammunition and the SCAR-H designed to fire the 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition. The FN SCAR-L (L for Light) is an assault rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO caliber designed and manufactured by the Belgian firearms manufacturer FN Herstal. The assault rifle 5.56mm FN SCAR-L has been specifically designed to offer users increased portability and adaptability.
The FN SCAR-L used the common design of the FN SCAR family using massively polymer and aluminum components. As for the other members of the SCAR family, it features free-floating cold hammer-forged barrels with a chrome-lined bore.
The SCAR-L is designed to operate with NATO 5.56x45mm or .223 Rem caliber ammunition. It has a standard M16-type magazine with a capacity of 30 cartridges. More information at this link SCAR-L Technical Review
The FN SCAR-H assault rifle 7.62mm follows the common design of the FN SCAR family using massively polymer and aluminum components. It features free-floating cold hammer-forged MIL-SPEC barrels with a chrome-lined bore. Two barrel lengths are available: 13" (330.2 mm) and 16" (406.4 mm).
The FN SCAR-H assault rifle 7.62mm is designed to operate with NATO spec 7.62x51mm or 308 Winchester caliber ammunition.It has a magazine capacity of 20 cartridges. A 10-round option magazine is available. More information at this link SCAR-H Technical Review
