IDEX 2021: EDGE ADASI new armed robotic vehicle ARV based on NIMR Ajban 440A 4x4 armored.
ADASI, a UAE-based company, a leader in the development of autonomous systems and services, and a subdivision of EDGE, the UAE’s advanced technology group for defense, presents at IDEX 2021 land defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi, a new generation of remotely operated combat vehicle based on NIMR AJBAN 440A 4x4 tactical armored vehicle, the Ajban ARV Armed Robotic Vehicle.

ADASI has collaborated with NIMR, its sister company within EDGE Group, to convert the AJBAN 440A armored 4-door manned vehicle into an unmanned system called the AJBAN armed robotic vehicle (ARV). The Ajban ARV offers mobility and greater firepower while ultimately reducing the risk to soldier lives.
The Ajban 440A is a 4x4 light protected vehicle fully designed and manufactured by the UAE-based company NIMR. In standard configuration, the vehicle is fitted with a four-man cabin providing protection against IED (Improvised Explosive Device), blast, and ballistic threats. The roof of the vehicle is fitted with a remotely operated weapon station that can be armed with a machine gun or automatic grenade launcher.
The NIMR Ajban 440 ARV provides an advanced, rapidly deployable, mobile and durable unmanned ground vehicle fitted with a remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.
The Ajban 440 ARV can be used to perform patrol and surveillance missions in dangerous areas without any troops inside the vehicle. The vehicle integrates different types of cameras and optics offering 360° day and night situational awareness. If necessary, the vehicle can be also used in manned conditions. It provides full vehicle and RCWS functionality in the hands of the remote operator, thereby mitigating personnel exposure to fire or other lethal threat.
The Ajban 440 ARV is controlled by two portable remotely operated control boxes, one to control the vehicle and the second to operate the weapon station and other UGVs (Unmanned Ground Vehicle). The whole system integrates mission planning software enabling the vehicle to ascertain information by assisting the operator in specifying the mission goals and constraints as well as automating the translation and elaboration of military objectives into robotic actions.
The Ajban 440 ARV also includes an interactive geo-map to create maps of regions and colored markers as well as a mission set up to conduct predefined missions in fully autonomous conditions. The communication systems between the vehicle and control boxes offer a maximum range of up 12 km in LOS (Line-of-sight) propagation which means waves travel in a direct path from the source to the receiver. The Vehicle in unmanned use can run at a maximum speed of 50 km with a maximum endurance of 8 hours. The vehicle has a payload of 1,200 kg.
