Rheinmetall has started welding work for British Boxer 8x8 armored mission modules.
According to a Tweet published by Rheinmetall on December 10, 2021, welding work for the first series-production mission modules for the British Boxer 8x8 armored vehicles has begun on schedule at Rheinmetall’s site in Kassel.

Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) is a joint venture between the United Kingdom’s BAE Systems and Germany's Rheinmetall AG for military vehicle design, manufacture and support.
In November 2019, The British MoD (Ministry of Defense) has announced the signature of a £2.8bn contract for the purchase of 500 Boxer 8x8 armored vehicles.
In November 2020, the ARTEC consortium, jointly owned by Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegman (KMW), announced that it had awarded two separate subcontracts to RBSL and WFEL respectively for the local production and assembly of the Boxer armored vehicle for the UK. The contract with RBSL is worth around £860 million. Delivery of the vehicles is expected to start from 2023.
in July 2021, The British company WFEL has announced the start of Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle production Mechanized Infantry Vehicles for the British Army at its new manufacturing plant in the North West of England.
WFEL has been selected as the KMW UK footprint for the Boxer MIV Program and will employ high levels of UK content, creating and protecting sovereign engineering and manufacturing skills, ensuring that the vehicles remain supported through their operational life.
The Boxer is an 8x8 is a multirole armored vehicle produced by the ARTEC GmbH (armoured vehicle technology) industrial group, and managed by OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation). The vehicle is based on a modular design consisting of two key element including the platform/drive-line with driver position and powerpack and the removable mission module located at the rear part of the vehicle that can be configured according missions requirements. Mission modules are attached by four points and can be swapped within an hour under field conditions.
The Boxer will be delivered to the British army in four variants including Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), Equipment Support, Command, Control, Communication, Computers & Information (C4I), and ambulances vehicles.
