Turkish army to receive more FNSS Pars and Kaplan antitank armored vehicles.

Within the scope of the STA Project signed between SSB and FNSS in 2016, a total of 260 vehicles, including 184 Kaplan and 76 Pars were purchased for the Turkish armed forces. According to a tweet from DefenceHub, these figured have reportedly been increased: a total of 344 vehicles, including 208 Kaplan and 136 Pars will be procured, DefenceHub reports. All tracked and wheeled platforms and turret systems are expected to be included in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces by 2022.

Within the framework of the Anti-Tank Vehicles Project carried out under the contract signed between the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş., the first Two Kaplan Anti-Tank Vehicles (STA) were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in November 2019.

The Anti-Tank Vehicles (STA) Project is carried out for the supply of new generation antitank vehicles to the Turkish Armed Forces. During the Kaplan STA delivery ceremony, the subcontractor agreement for the Supply of Mission Equipment within the scope of the Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle (ÖMTTZA) Project was signed between FNSS and Aselsan, and also the Subcontractor Agreement for the Supply of the Indigenous Engine signed between FNSS and Tümosan, Cem reôrted in Defence Turkey.

The Anti-Tank Vehicles contract signed between the Presidency of Defence Industries and FNSS in June 2016 covered a total of 260 vehicles: 184 tracked and 76 4x4. Regarding the turrets to be used on these vehicles. 64 will be equipped with Kornet missiles that are currently in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces. Other vehicles will be equipped with OMTAS missiles developed by Roketsan. So, there will be two different vehicles and two different types of turrets. In short, four different types of products are being developed, designed, prototyped and qualified. There is a Kornet turret on the tracked Kaplan and an OMTAS turret on the Pars 4x4 vehicle. These two vehicles and two turrets were completely designed and manufactured from scratch to cater to the Turkish armed forces.
