Ukrainian Army to get new 14.5mm Xado Snipex T-Rex anti-materiel sniper rifle.

| 2021

Just before the end of 2020, Ukrainian gun maker Xado Chemical Group announced on its Facebook account that it’s Snipex T-Rex 14.5mm and Snipex Alligator sniper rifles had successfully passed all state trials and evaluation. Based on these state examinations results, the 14.5×114 mm caliber Snipex T- Rex rifle has been adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As claimed by Xado, the 25kg T-Rex rifle demonstrated an acceptable level of recoil during shooting. Recoil is partially decreased due to the four- or five-chamber muzzle brake, the effect of a recoil isolator, short recoil, and optimally balanced weight.

Alligator is a magazine-fed bolt-action rifle adapted from the Snipex T-Rex.

Both heavy sniper rifles fire 14.5×114mm ammunition at a maximum effective range of 2,000 meters, though the bullet can reach 7,000 meters, according to the manufacturer. Accuracy is ensured by the floating barrel, which is in free recoil during the shot. Accuracy is also affected by some design features.

The rifle in both variants has the bullpup design: the bolt carrier group is located behind the trigger. Barrel locking is achieved through a rotating bolt. 13 bolt lugs are disposed in three rows and ensure rigid locking of the barrel. During loading, the cartridge is inserted into the breech opening with the bolt open.

The rifle has a height-adjustable cheek rest, a Picatinny rail, and a foldable bipod. The bipod is mounted on a support that slides along the barrel. The additional rear support is adjustable, provides for the possibility of precise adjustment. The rifle has a carry handle. The cheek rest, butt plate, and handles are made of modern wear-resistant polymer materials. The surface of the rifle is covered with a special Сerakote weapon paint. The rifle is easy to disassemble and maintain.
