The latest modification of the Russian Kornet-EM antitank missile system has been upgraded for any carrier ranging from a vehicle to a robot, Editor of the Arsenal of the Fatherland journal Alexey Leonkov told TASS: “The missile is carried in a standard transportation-launch module that can be mounted on an APC or IFV. It can also operate from the outside of the combat module or be carried by a robotized system,” he said.

It is important that the system can be carried by small armored or unarmored cross-country vehicles: “It is important when the vehicles accompany a column and meet an adversary with armored hardware. The cross-country vehicle with Kornet becomes a formidable adversary that can effectively destroy the targets that bar the movement and threaten the existence of the column,” Leonkov said.

Deputy CEO of Precision Systems Holding Sergey Mikhailov told TASS the company had adapted Kornet-EM to any undercarriage.

The basic Kornet-EM modification is carried on two telescopic masts with four missiles in each one. The complex is designed to destroy tanks and other vehicles equipped with modern reactive armor. The maximum firing range increased to 8 kilometers against 5.5 of the previous options.

Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugaev told TASS at Army-2021 forum that Russia had received several applications for the potential delivery to foreign customers of self-propelled Kornet-EM missiles on Tiger undercarriage produced by the Military-Industrial Company.

The 9M133 Kornet (NATO reporting name: AT-14 Spriggan, export designation Kornet-E) is a man-portable anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) intended for use against main battle tanks. It was first introduced into service by the Russian army in 1998. The Kornet is among the most capable Russian ATGMs. It is not intended to fully replace previous systems, due to its high cost. The Kornet comes in variants with thermobaric warheads for use against soft targets. It was further developed into the 9M133 Kornet-EM, which has an increased range and an improved warhead.

The Kornet has been widely exported and is produced under license in several countries. It was first used in combat in 2003 and has since been used in many conflicts.
