The Dingo 2 is a 4x4 armored vehicle in the category of MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) designed and manufactured by the German company KMW (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann) that entered into service with the German army in 2004. The vehicle is in service with Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Iraq, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Pakistan, and Qatar.
The Dingo 2 is a light 4x4 armored vehicle that is based on the well-known commercial Unimog chassis by Daimler with all-wheel drive and differential lock. This concept ensures excellent mobility in any type of terrain with low-cost procurement as well as low lifecycle costs.
The hull of the Dingo is specially designed and proven to withstand the detonation of anti-tank mines. Fragment protection is ensured through the double hull, and a belly pan inside the vehicle reduces pressure waves as well as deformations in the event of Anti-Personnel or Anti-tank mine explosions.
The Dingo 2 is available in different configurations, for the APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) variant, the vehicle can accommodate up to 7 soldiers including a driver and commander. The roof of the vehicle can be fitted with a weapon station armed with a 7.62 mm or 12.7mm machine gun. It can run at a maximum road speed of 90 km/g with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 km.
