Germany delivers to Ukraine 50 Dingo 2 APCs and 12 M1070 tank transport trucks.

The German Ministry of Defense announced on December 7, 2022, the delivery to Ukraine of 50 German-made Dingo 2 4x4 armored vehicles and 12 M1070 tank transporter tractor trucks manufactured by the American company Oshkosh.

Germany has delivered to Ukraine 50 Dingo 2 4x4 armored vehicles and 12 M1070 tank transporter tractor trucks.


Citing information published by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, following the European Union's decision to large new financial aid to Ukraine, Europe has for the first time surpassed the U.S. in the value of total committed aid to Ukraine. Germany has become the largest donor country in Europe.

In the period from October 4, to November 20, 2022, the European Union (EU) has significantly expanded its support commitments for Ukraine. EU countries and institutions now total nearly €52 billion in military, financial, and humanitarian assistance.

Germany's new commitments and its contribution to the large new EU package now make it the largest donor in Europe in absolute terms, overtaking the UK for the first time, with a total of 12.6 billion euros in German pledged support to Ukraine. Germany committed and delivered more weapons, winter equipment, plus a large new package to support cyber security and war crime intelligence efforts.

According to the latest list of military equipment delivered to Ukraine by the German government, Germany delivered 50 Dingo 2 4x4 armored vehicles and 12 M1070 tank transporter tractor trucks.

The Dingo 2 is a 4x4 armored vehicle that was designed, developed, and manufactured by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). It entered into service with the German army in 2004 and is also in service with several countries including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Iraq, Luxembourg, Norway, Pakistan, Qatar, and now Ukraine.

The Dingo 2 is based on the light tactical truck Mercedes-Benz Unimog 5000 chassis. The vehicle is designed to provide protection ballistic and mine protection using a modular armor package. It has a crew of two including a driver and commander and the rear part of the hull can accommodate up to six military personnel. The roof of the vehicle is fitted with a weapons station armed with one 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.

The M1070 is an American-made tank transporter tractor truck manufactured by Oshkosh Defense. It is designed to transport main battle tanks. The truck is able to tow a semi-trailer such as the M1000 which is used to carry armored vehicles and other heavy equipment loads weighing up to 70 tons. In the US Army, the M1070 is now replaced by the M1070A1 which is an improved version of the M1070.

The M1070A1 is powered by a Caterpillar C-18 six-cylinder diesel developing 700 hp coupled to an Allison 4800SP seven-speed automatic transmission and an Oshkosh 30000 single-speed transfer case. It can run at a maximum road speed of 72 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 724 km.
