The Sahin is a mobile counter-drone weapon system that is armed with a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.

The Sahin is developed by the Turkish company Aselsan and is designed to destroy mini and micro UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). It can be used to provide military bases protection or border security as well as air defense system.

The Sahin is based on a one axle trailer equipped with a remote weapon station armed with one 4 0mm MK19 Mod 3 Grenade Launcher able to fire 40mm ATOM ammunition. It is equipped with target detection and tracking systems that can work in all weather conditions day and night.

Together with the Sahin anti-drone system, the ATOM 40 mm High Velocity Airburst Grenade offers an effective kinetic attack capability against mini/micro UAVs

The ATOM is a 40 mm High Velocity Airburst Grenade developed by ASELSAN. It is smart ammunition that is capable of being programmed to the exact time of detonation while leaving the barrel. Once fired, the time-programmable fuze starts to count down for detonation at the intended target point. Using a pre-fragmented shell that is optimized for the target set, high hit probability is ensured.

ATOM 40 mm High Velocity Airburst Grenade is programmed via Fire Control Unit which can be integrated into any automatic grenade launcher with just a few modifications to the gun if needed. Fire Control Unit provides the user to see and approve the target, measures the distance to the target, and calculates the time required for the ammunition to air burst.

The 40mm grenade launcher carries 64 rounds of ammunition and the turret has a traverse of 360° with elevation from -10° to +60°. The counter-drone solution has a combat weight of around 2,500 kg with a length of 3.72 m, a width of 2.45 m, and a height of 2.67 m.

The Sahin will be used to destroy rotary-wing and fixed-wing mini-micro UAVs and model aircraft threats at a maximum firing range of 700 m. It can perform target tracking and ballistic calculations by providing orientation (engagement) to the position reported from the radar.
