On December 29, 2020, Army Recognition published that the Hungarian army had taken delivery of 10 Gidrans, an advanced version of the Ejder Yalçin produced by the Turkish company Nurol Makina. But they had been manufactured in Turkey, while the new batch delivered on March 20, 2022, has been manufactured in Hungary.
This delivery comes days after Nurol Makina announced that it opened its first production center for Gidran overseas on Thursday inside Hungary. The country first signed a deal to acquire Gidrans began in 2018. Hungary has become the first European Union country to welcome a Turkish defense firm’s operations on its territory, Ahval writes. It is also the second NATO country after Poland to acquire Turkish armaments.
Gidran is based on the Ejder Yalcin which was unveiled at IDEF 2013, a Turkish defense exhibition that took place in May 2013. The production began in 2014. The vehicle can carry a total of 12 military personnel including the driver and the commander. The hull of the Edjder Yalcin is of all-welded steel armor construction that provides ballistic protection against the firing of small arms and shell splinters.
