Russian commandos engage Tigr armored vehicles with Arbalet-DM RWS in Ukraine.
MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS-DEFENSE/. Russian commandos are successfully using Arbalet-DM remotely controlled weapons stations (RCWS) in Ukraine, a security source told TASS: “Tigr armored vehicles with Arbalet remotely controlled weapon stations are successfully used by Russian special forces during mop-up operations, allowing the operator to monitor the situation from a safe place”, the source said.

The Tiger-M multipurpose vehicle with Arbalet-DM remotely controlled weapon station was unveiled at Armya-2016 forum. The vehicle and the system also took part in the Victory Parade in Red Square on May 9, 2016. It entered service with the Russian armed forces in 2017.

The Tigr-M or GAZ-233114 is an improved version of the standard 4x4 light tactical vehicle Tigr GAZ-2330. The vehicle is produced by the Russian Defense Company Arzamas Machinery-Plant, a Military Industrial Company subsidiary. It incorporates numerous improvements aimed at enhancing its operating characteristics, reliability, ergonomics and protection.
The Tiger-M has a combat weight of 5,300 kg and offers a payload capacity of 1,500 kg. The vehicle is designed to carry troops and cargo, towed weapons systems and military equipment. It can accommodate up to 10 soldiers including the driver and the commander.
The Arbalet-DM RCWS (Remotely Controlled Weapon Station) is able to detect and automatically track targets on the move and at a static position. The turret is equipped with a TV camera that can identify a target at a distance of up to 2.5 km, as well as a thermal imager with a detection range of up to 1.5 km. The station`s sensor suite also incorporates a laser rangefinder.
The Arbalet-DM RCWS can be easily integrated into various types of tracked or wheeled combat vehicles. It features a low weight that does not exceed 250 kg. The turret has an elevation angle of -20° / +70° and a traverse of 360°. The Arbalet RCWS is controlled via a remote panel installed in the crew compartment of a vehicle. The panel is fitted with an LCD (liquid-crystal) multifunction display.
Reconnaissance units of the Russian army will also receive Aistenok and Fara-VR radars for reconnaissance of adversary firing positions. All combat vehicles and military equipment have properly operated in various climates.
