The PRP-5, as displayed at the Army-2023 forum, is built upon the chassis of the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle, which has a long-standing and proven operational history with the Russian troops. Concurrently, there's an alternative version of the PRP-5 that utilizes the chassis of the BTR-82A wheeled armored personnel carrier.

Both versions of the PRP-5 are equipped with a remotely controlled module that houses specialized equipment. A standout feature of the vehicle is its retractable mast, which supports an optical-electronic integrated reconnaissance device (OEKPR) and a radar station. This innovative design greatly enhances the vehicle's capability to detect adversaries.

The OEKPR is equipped with a color television channel, a high-precision television channel, and a thermal imager. Additionally, its rangefinder can accurately gauge distances to enemy targets situated up to 15,000 meters away. The onboard radar boasts the ability to detect individual infantrymen from over 6,000 meters and vehicles from distances exceeding 15,000 meters.

The PRP-5 also incorporates a drone system, specifically an unmanned aerial vehicle of the T-28 aircraft type. These "flying eyes" have an impressive range, capable of operating up to 25,000 meters from the vehicle and can remain airborne for up to 90 minutes.

As for its firepower, the PRP-5 is armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun and comes with a stockpile of 2,000 rounds of ammunition. In terms of mobility, the tracked version can reach a top road speed of up to 70 km/h, while the wheeled variant can achieve at least 80 km/h. Impressively, both models have the capability to traverse water obstacles by swimming.
