Army-2023: Rostec presents new artillery counter-battery system.

| 2023

Roselectronics holdings and High-Precision Complexes of the Rostec State Corporation, together with Rosoboronexport, present a system of counter-battery warfare at the Army-2023 forum. It enables to detect enemy artillery positions at a distance of up to 38 km, determine their exact coordinates, and then, using automated fire control tools, enable efficient counter-battery fire in the shortest possible time.

The technical solution includes the Penicillin automated sound-thermal reconnaissance artillery system and the Tablet-A artillery fire control system. As a means of destruction in the complex, any artillery systems and MLRS that are in service can be used.

The Penicillin system, developed by the Russian Research Institute Vektor, is intended for reconnaissance of firing positions of artillery pieces, mortars, MLRS, anti-aircraft and tactical missiles. Unlike similar systems, the complex does not operate on the principles of radar, but combines thermal and sound reconnaissance, which makes it impossible for it to be electronically suppressed.

"Penicillin" captures acoustic and thermal signals from artillery shots and shell explosions, and then puts them on an electronic map. The Tablet-A artillery fire control system, developed by the All-Russian Research Institute Signal (part of the High-Precision Systems), coupled with Penicillin, processes the received data, calculates firing installations and transfers them to gun commanders for subsequent suppression of enemy artillery. The average time for determining the coordinates of the target and the control cycle is no more than a minute.

"Tablet-A" can control the firing of almost all artillery systems in service and the entire range of ammunition. The product adapts to any artillery unit, including a mixed one. Tablet-A provides operational control and counter-battery combat, minimizes the time from receiving target designation to hitting an object, ”said Vladimir Pimenov, General Director of JSC VNII Signal.

“Timely detection of the enemy and prompt transmission of data for fire destruction of targets is the key to achieving fire superiority. The use of conjugated real-time reconnaissance and control systems for an artillery unit significantly increases the capabilities of artillery units,” said Sergey Skorykh, Director General of the Vector Research Institute.
