Arnold Defense from US secures $56.5 million contract for versatile 70mm Rocket Launchers.

According to a statement published by the United States Department of Defense on May 31, 2023, Arnold Defense and Electronics, a leading provider of advanced weapon systems based in Arnold, Missouri, has been awarded a significant $56,518,359 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. The contract is for the manufacturing and support of 2.75-inch (70mm) rocket launchers, along with their subcomponents, to meet the needs of the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).

Known for its extensive experience in designing and manufacturing military-grade hardware, Arnold Defense and Electronics has made significant strides with its 2.75-inch (70mm) rocket launchers. These versatile launchers are adaptable to a variety of combat scenarios, suitable for use across various types of aircraft, including helicopters and fixed-wing platforms, as well as ground vehicles and naval vessels. This adaptability makes it a favored choice across the U.S. military branches and foreign military customers.

Work on this project is scheduled to start immediately at the company's facility in Arnold, Missouri, with completion anticipated by May 2028.

Funding for the contract has been sourced from several fiscal years. Fiscal 2023 procurement of ammunition (Air Force) funds will provide $2,057,908 (60%), with $1,322,500 (39%) coming from fiscal 2022 procurement of ammunition (Navy). Fiscal 2021 procurement of ammunition (Navy) funds will account for the remaining $28,750 (1%), to be obligated at the time of the award. The $28,750 from the 2021 fiscal year will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The contract was directly awarded to Arnold Defense and Electronics in accordance with 10 U.S. Code 3204(a)(1), a provision that allows for non-competitive procurement in certain situations, as they were identified as the only responsible source capable of fulfilling the agency's requirements.

The contracting activity is managed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division, Indian Head, Maryland.
