The QBZ-192, a modern carbine, is designed to replace older models in the Chinese arsenal. This weapon uses 5.8x42mm ammunition, a caliber specific to China, offering a balance between range, precision, and stopping power. The introduction of the QBZ-192 signifies a significant improvement in infantry firepower, especially for units operating in conjunction with armored elements.

The QBZ-192 carbine is part of the "20-style" family of weapons, a collection introduced around 2020. This series encompasses a range of weapons, from pistols and submachine guns to heavy machine guns and sniper rifles. The QBZ-192, in particular, shares many features with the standard QBZ-191 assault rifle, with the barrel length being a primary difference. It debuted at the National Day military parade in 2019, with several special forces units showcasing it.

Weighing about 3 kg when unloaded, its adjustable design allows the user to modify its length according to their needs. With the stock extended, the rifle measures about 900mm, but when the stock collapses, its size reduces to about 670mm.

The barrel of the QBZ-192, measuring 267mm in length, is designed to provide precision and efficiency in short to medium-range engagements. The rifle's cyclic rate of fire reaches around 750 shots per minute. In real combat situations, the practical rate of fire ranges between 40 and 100 shots per minute, allowing the user to strike a balance between accuracy and firepower. Its magazine can hold up to 30 rounds. In terms of range, the QBZ-192 is effective up to 300 meters, making it ideal for most ground combat scenarios.

The first to receive this upgrade is the "Life & Death Together" company, part of the 74th Armored Brigade of the Army Group. The unique name of this unit signifies the deep bond and commitment of its soldiers to their mission and to each other. The company's role in the brigade and its strategic importance make it an ideal candidate for receiving the latest in military technology.

As the PLAGF continues to modernize, similar upgrades can be expected in other units. The focus on advanced weaponry and technology demonstrates China's strategic goal of ensuring its army remains among the most sophisticated and formidable in the world.

The equipping of the "Life & Death Together" company with the QBZ-192 carbine marks a notable advancement in the PLAGF's ongoing modernization efforts. Previously, this weapon had been introduced for the Chinese special forces, as we reported on Army Recognition dated August 18, 2023.
