French manufacturer Nexter, a member of KNDS, is presenting its newest combat vehicles, such as the VBCI Mk.II T40, the Jaguar combat and reconnaissance vehicle, and a land version of the RapidFire turret mounted on a 6x6 chassis. The showcase also includes the ARX 30 remote-controlled turret, armed with the 30mm gun from the Tiger helicopter, designed for the protection of platforms, convoys, or company-level units. This system, with its airburst ammunition, is under development to counter drones and loitering ammunition. Additionally, the ARX 25 remote-controlled turret, equipped with the 25mm gun from the French army's VBCI, is displayed, offering superior capabilities for ground combat with its extended range and firepower.
Nexter's presence at EDEX 2023 also extends to a broad spectrum of products. The Leclerc MBT is a highlight, symbolizing Nexter's revolutionary approach to combat vehicle design. This tank, a pioneer of the 3rd generation MBTs, integrates distinctive features like the autoloader and the ability to fire both while moving and stationary. The exhibit also features Nexter's medium-caliber weapons, currently in service with the Egyptian forces, such as the 30mm gun of the Rafale – the world's fastest single-barrel gun – and the Narwhal 20mm naval turret. A complete range of ammunition for main battle tanks, naval and land artillery systems is also on display, including Katana, the next-generation high-precision guided 155mm ammunition.
Completing the exhibition is the entire Nexter artillery family, which includes the CAESAR 6x6 and 8x8, and the 105LG. Moreover, Nexter is showcasing the NERVA range of land robots, equipped with various mission kits for tasks like reconnaissance and counter-IED operations. This comprehensive display at EDEX 2023 underscores Nexter's dedication to enhancing the armored capabilities of the Egyptian army with an extensive array of sophisticated military equipment and systems.
As Egypt is showing interest in purchasing main battle tanks, Nexter is promoting its Enhanced Main Battle Tank (EMBT), a 4th generation MBT. The EMBT merges features like a 22-round 120mm autoloader, a chassis with 7 roadwheels, and a 1,500 hp powerpack into a new, enhanced design. This new system demonstrator is equipped with the 120mm gun and autoloader from the Leclerc MBT, along with the latest technologies like a new digital architecture, an ARX 30, and an additional 4th crew member serving as a "deputy commander", complete with a hard-kill active protection system (APS).
