Egypt displays DMS-K dual missile platform for Konkurs ATGM at EDEX 2023.
At the EDEX 2023 exhibition, the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), a state-owned Egyptian company, is showcasing a dual missile platform for 9M113 Konkurs Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs), named DMS-K. Mounted on a Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Single Cab pick-up, the DMS-K, tailored for special forces, can carry up to eight missiles.

The DMS-K system has two missiles ready for use and permits two consecutive missile launches before reloading, with full control possible from inside the vehicle. Retaining the capabilities of the Konkurs ATGM, the DMS-K ensures precise target engagement within a range of up to 4 km. Additionally, the system offers the functionality to record firings for subsequent analysis.
In terms of technical specifications, the DMS-K has a horizontal movement limit of 270° and a vertical movement range from -5° to 10°. It achieves readiness in 3 seconds following an automatic self-check, with a 2-second preparation time for launching a second missile. Operating on 12 volts/10 amperes, the DMS-K weighs 250 kg and features a 10x zoom capability with HDMI resolution.
The 9K113 Konkurs, designated AT-5 Spandrel by NATO, serves as the core missile system integrated into the DMS-K. Developed by the Russian Defense Company KBP, this semi-automatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) wire-guided anti-tank missile was introduced to the Russian army in 1977. It is designed to engage both moving and stationary armored targets, including those equipped with explosive reactive armor (ERA) protection.
The 9M113 Konkurs missile, featuring a 9N131 High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead, boasts a penetration capability of 750 to 800mm RHA (Rolled Homogeneous Armor). The Konkurs system is adaptable for use on tracked or wheeled armored vehicles, as demonstrated by its appearance on various vehicles in several conflicts.
Operating through a semi-automatic control system, with command transmission via wires, the missile offers a maximum range of 4,000 m and a minimum range of 100 m. The Konkurs-M variant includes a tandem warhead with an extended nose probe designed to neutralize explosive reactive armor before activating the main warhead.
The associated launcher unit, 9P135, is a tripod launcher that can be pintle-mounted on vehicles, as demonstrated by the DMS-K system. Additional accessories, such as the thermal imager 1PN65, can be integrated for engagements at ranges up to 2,500 m. The system incorporates features like an incandescent infrared bulb for tracking, an alarm system to detect jamming, and the capability for manual control if necessary.
