The original Fahd, designed by Thyssen Henschel and produced by the Kader Factory for Developed Industries, is the standard 4x4 APC in service with the Egyptian army. Constructed with an all-welded steel armor hull, the previous Fahd model protects small arms and shell splinters. It was based on a Mercedes-Benz LAP 1117/32 truck 4x4 chassis and was powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 366 LA 4 engine.
The new Fahd-300 represents a significant improvement, utilizing a Tatra chassis for enhanced mobility across varied terrains and powered by a Cummins engine. With a maximum speed of 105 km/h and a cruising range of 700 km, the Fahd-300 incorporates a new V-shaped hull design and advanced armor, offering increased protection against ballistic threats and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The Fahd 300-MD armored ambulance, based on a Tatra T815 4x4 truck, is powered by a Cummins ISBe2 300 diesel engine, which generates 292 hp at 2,500 rpm. This Egyptian armored ambulance measures 6.55m in length, 2.6m in width, and 2.6m in height, with a weight of 17 tons, including a 3-ton payload.
Designed to accommodate a driver, two medics, and between 2 and 4 patients based on their medical condition, the Fahd 300-MD armored ambulance achieves a maximum speed of 100 km/h on roads and 65 km/h off-road, with a cruising range of 700 km on roads and 500 km off-road. The ambulance can overcome vertical obstacles of up to 50 cm, traverse trenches of up to 80 cm, and has a fordability of 110 cm. Its minimum turning radius is 7.5m.
Equipped with run-flat tires featuring a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS), the ambulance prioritizes safety. The vehicle also offers customization options according to customer requirements, including a 220v diesel generator, air conditioning system, stretcher (220x50cm), air mattress for spine fractures with a 220v air pressure unit, a 200v medical light operating in 12v DC, and comprehensive first aid kits. The ambulance also includes two oxygen cylinders equipped with a humidifier and mask.
