The Land Deep Fires program represents a major upgrade for the British Army, following an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense. It encompasses a five-year plan to update the M270 MLRS and Repair and Recovery variants, with upgrades to 44 launchers currently in service and 10 RRVs. The program includes the installation of new armored cabs and enhancements to automotive and launch mechanism components. These upgrades are designed to extend the lifespan of these systems until 2050, ensuring the British Army's capability to address current and future threats effectively.
Under the Land Deep Fires program, a total of 85 platforms are planned, comprising 75/76 M270A2 launchers and 9/10 recovery variants. EKA Ltd's involvement in this program is crucial, focusing on the upgrade of the 4 existing unique recovery vehicles of the UK and the addition of the new recovery variants.
EKA Ltd is also tasked with working on the new M270A2 cabs, incorporating specific modifications tailored to the British context. This effort is part of a broader initiative to maintain technical commonality and facilitate training and support across platforms, thanks to shared operating functions and methodologies.
In addition to these upgrades, EKA Ltd continues to provide long-term support to the RRV based on the M270 platform. This includes winch testing and certification, provision of parts and spares documentation, technical documentation, and level 4 repair and maintenance services.
A notable achievement of EKA Ltd is their refurbishment and upgrade program carried out in 2013 on the main and auxiliary winches of the RRV. This program upgraded the winch systems to be fully compliant with modern CAN-Bus control systems, enhancing system, component, and support commonality across platforms.
EKA Ltd specializes in providing logistical support solutions, with a strong track record in upgrading and maintaining military vehicles and equipment. Their expertise in integrating modern control systems and providing ongoing support positions them as a key player in the modernization of the British Army's artillery systems under the Land Deep Fires program.
