The amount will be used to meet Ukraine’s needs in terms of, for example, ammunition and the maintenance of platforms and systems that have already been delivered. The Netherlands also intends to contribute to the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defences so that the country can continue to defend itself against attacks on critical infrastructure. Attention is also being paid to technologically advanced equipment.

The support will be provided through commercial procurement, supplies from the Netherlands’ own inventories and stockpiles and cooperation with international partners. Money will also be spent on improving Ukraine’s cyber security. Furthermore, the Netherlands will continue to train Ukrainian military personnel in 2024.

With this contribution, the government will be honouring the undertaking given at the NATO summit in Vilnius last summer. By signing the G7 joint declaration, the Netherlands committed itself to continue supporting Ukraine in the long term.
