In the modern battlefield where unconventional threats are prevalent, the use of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) is becoming increasingly common. With their superior capabilities, these unmanned systems have become crucial components of modern military operations, participating in both high and low-intensity operations as well as hazardous environments.

The SHADOW RIDER, today, stands as an optionally manned combat system with the ability for remote control or autonomous operation. It has been successfully utilized in international military live exercises, serving as a wingman in real-life operational scenarios. These field tests have led to numerous improvements in the vehicle's design and operation, allowing for the integration of various useful payloads suitable for a range of missions, especially fire support. This has allowed the SHADOW RIDER concept to evolve into a family of autonomous UGVs that can serve a multitude of roles.

The solution offered by FNSS allows for the addition of autonomous capabilities to any armored ground vehicle through an integrable kit. The SHADOW RIDER has made its mark as Türkiye's first and one of the key heavy UGVs globally, with a technology readiness level (TRL) of 6-7. It has been adapted into new variants for different operational purposes, including an ambulance variant for transporting wounded personnel, a logistics support vehicle for load-transport missions, a fire support vehicle with weapon system integration, a command vehicle, a tactical deception vehicle, and an engineer reconnaissance vehicle.

The SHADOW RIDER has matured technologically with improved detection algorithms and performance limits, demonstrating increased proficiency in aspects like speed and direction stabilization, route tracking, autonomous patrol, convoy tracking, drivable area detection, and obstacle avoidance.

Visitors at IDEF 2023 will have the opportunity to see the SHADOW RIDER in action, as FNSS showcases its adaptable user interface developed from operational experience. The company's stand will feature the SHADOW RIDER equipped with a stretcher for casualty evacuation, showcasing its ability to be adapted for logistics support missions. In a new addition since the last IDEF, the SHADOW RIDER will be equipped with the SANCAK Remote Weapon System (RWS), emphasizing its capability to serve as a fire support vehicle and provide protection to units.
