On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, soldiers from the Indonesian army’s 432nd Para Raider Infantry Battalion/Waspada Setia Jaya (432/WSJ), stationed at Kariango Pen-432, in the Sakeang field, participated in drone operation training under the guidance of Major Ctp Sudaryanto, Defense Studies reports.

The training commenced with a practical introduction to drone knowledge, covering essential aspects to be familiar with before operating a drone. This included understanding remote control modes, drone unit installation, and practical exercises in drone flight and control.

Major Ctp Sudaryanto emphasized the significance of drone knowledge for soldiers, as drones play a pivotal role in various documentation activities, not limited to just video and photo capturing. Particularly for regional unit soldiers, especially those serving in the Upper Nduga Task Force, drones offer valuable capabilities for aerial patrols, tracking, and reconnaissance in remote and inaccessible areas. "Furthermore, in open terrains, drones yield superior documentation results. They are indispensable for forest and land fire patrols, as they can fly at high altitudes, enabling the monitoring of extensive areas," Major Ctp Sudaryanto explained. "Hence, every vigilant soldier must master drone operation in alignment with their mission to support the primary tasks."

The 432nd Para Raider Infantry Battalion/Waspada Setia Jaya, often abbreviated as Yonif PR 432/WSJ, is a part of the 3rd/Tri Budi Sakti Para Raider Brigade, alongside the 431st/Satria Setia Perkasa Para Raider Battalion and the 433rd/Julu Siri Para Raider Yonif. These units fall under Kostrad and are headquartered in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi.
