Larry Barisciano, weapons technology operations manager at Leidos’ Dynetics Group, expressed enthusiasm over the transition of their R&D process into a significant program, emphasizing the team's readiness to develop, produce, and deploy these sensors for the Marines.

The Dynetics Group at Leidos has a history of developing advanced sensors, including the Marine Expeditionary Long Range Persistent Sensor (MELPS) for the Office of Naval Research. These sensors offer a comprehensive 360-degree view, merging advanced antenna technology and signal processing to deliver a consistent, high-quality air surveillance capability without electromagnetic interference.

The new project will leverage insights from previous sensor development initiatives and real-world feedback. The primary work locations are Huntsville, Alabama, and Arlington, Virginia, with the final delivery targeted for 2025.

In a related showcase, Leidos displayed the MELPS prototype at Project Convergence 2022 in San Diego, demonstrating their expertise in long-range surveillance technology.
