Under the contract worth nearly 2.9 million Polish złoty, the Polish Armed Forces will receive 50 Bor precision rifles, caliber 7.62 mm, over the years 2023-2024. The next delivery is scheduled for next year, which is expected to conclude the agreement. To date, ZM Tarnów has supplied the Polish army with over 800 Bor rifles, including units to the Territorial Defense Forces. At the beginning of October, the company conducted training on the construction, operation, maintenance, and use of the Bor precision rifle, attended by soldiers from the 11th Małopolska Territorial Defense Brigade. More courses of this kind are planned for Polish soldiers, as well as for instructors and employees of armament repair workshops.

The Bor precision rifle is a high-precision weapon originating from Poland. Designed by Aleksander Leżucha in 2005, the Bor has been in service since 2007 and continues to be used by the Polish army as well as by Nigeria.

Manufactured by OBR SM Tarnów, the Bor started production in 2006 and since then, it has been offered in several variants, including the Alex Tactical Sport and Alex-338, which provide options tailored to the specific needs of snipers. These variants allow flexibility in combat and precision shooting situations, highlighting the manufacturer's commitment to meeting the diverse requirements of military and security operations.

The Bor rifle is relatively lightweight at 6.1 kg, making it manageable for snipers on the move. Its total length is 1,038 mm with a barrel that can measure either 680 mm or 560 mm, depending on the variant. This flexibility in barrel length allows users to choose the configuration that best suits their mission and shooting style.

Chambered for 7.62×51mm NATO and .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges, the Bor offers considerable firepower, with an initial velocity of 870 m/s for the 7.62 NATO ammunition. This power is complemented by an effective firing range of up to 800 meters, allowing snipers to hit targets at great distances with good precision.

The rifle's action is bolt-action, which is typical for precision rifles due to their ability to maintain high accuracy. The Bor is fed by a 10-round detachable magazine, which facilitates quick and efficient reloading in combat situations. However, what sets the Bor apart from other precision rifles is its bullpup configuration, which significantly shortens the rifle's size and contributes to its maneuverability.

Regarding sighting devices, the Bor can be equipped with day or night optics, including the ZTOCS-1 ACRAB system and the Carl Zeiss Optronics NSV 80 night vision sight. These advanced optical systems allow snipers to remain extremely precise, even in low-light conditions, which is crucial for operations that take place at night or in environments with reduced visibility.

The Bor precision rifle is a versatile and robust weapon system, designed to meet the stringent demands of modern combat. With its lightweight construction, caliber options, long-range accuracy, and ability to be equipped with various optical systems, the Bor represents a valuable tool for the armed forces that adopt it.
