The Paramount-Jatunapas partnership, unveiled in 2022, focuses on the local production of the advanced Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) known as the Mbombe 4 within Thailand. At the Defence and Security 2022 ceremony, the domestically assembled 'D-Lion' variant of the Mbombe 4 was formally handed over to the Royal Thai Armed Forces. Subsequently, the ICV has undergone rigorous vehicle and live-fire trials conducted by the Thai Armed Forces and DTI.
Steve Griessel, Paramount's Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that this project demonstrates the company's confidence in Jatunapas' capabilities and its dedication to transferring technology and skills, promoting local manufacturing, and contributing to job creation. Griessel remarked, "Jatunapas has impressively demonstrated its commitment to enhancing Thailand's defense capabilities. They are renowned for their exceptional defense and security solutions. This partnership is poised to establish new standards in defense innovation, and we are privileged to be part of this journey."
The continued expansion of the Mbombe 4 into the Asia-Pacific region and beyond underscores the success of Paramount's pioneering portable manufacturing model. The Mbombe 4 completes the advanced Mbombe family of combat vehicles, specifically designed to address the growing demand for superior protection and versatility in various scenarios, including conventional and asymmetric warfare, counter-terrorism, and peacekeeping missions.
Crafted with a unique clean-sheet design and equipped with cutting-edge mission-critical technologies to address the challenges of modern battlefields, the Mbombe 4 offers exceptional levels of both ballistic and mine protection, rivaling the best in its class on a global scale.
Impressively, despite its 16-ton weight, the Mbombe 4 boasts remarkable versatility, achieving a top speed of 140 km/hr, scaling gradients with a 60% incline, and fording depths of up to 900mm without any prior preparation. Furthermore, the Mbombe 4 can be outfitted with various weapon systems and efficiently loaded with ammunition, crew, and supplies.
