HENSOLDT has announced that it will deliver 4 TRML-4D radars to Diehl Defence, starting in January 2024 and continuing in the same year.

It features a completely redesigned AESA antenna, mounted on a non-retractable continuously rotating base. The system no longer includes an integrated operator shelter and requires a separate module.

The TRML-4D combines digital beamforming with pulse-Doppler radar to detect hard-to-locate airborne targets, such as hovering helicopters or low-flying cruise missiles.

The system offers improved performance compared to its predecessors and is capable of tracking 1500 targets within a range of up to 250 km. It supports Mode 5 and Mode S identification.

The radar unit includes an onboard power generator and can be transported by any truck equipped with standard 20-foot (6.1 m) ISO container fittings. The instrumented range is 250 km, and it can track fighter-type targets at a distance of over 120 km.

HENSOLDT offers a diverse range of radar systems, passive radar Twinvis, the Spexer product family, and radars specifically designed for maritime and air traffic security.

The company supplies cutting-edge radars for the German Navy's latest frigates and corvettes, ensuring robust security. They also contribute to airspace surveillance and approach control at German military bases, among other critical applications.

With this upcoming delivery, Ukraine will further enhance its defense system against Russian attacks, which have been significant and ongoing in recent months.
