Ukrainian artillery support gets a boost from BAE Systems and AMS collaboration.
During their visit to Kyiv, two companies officially inked an agreement that empowers them to directly offer specialized artillery systems support to the Ukrainian armed forces from within Ukraine itself. Under this accord, BAE Systems and AMS will provide repair and support services for artillery systems donated by the British Government. AMS will utilize its existing maintenance centers in Ukraine, staffed by Ukrainian engineers.

John Borton, Managing Director of the Weapon Systems UK business for BAE Systems, said: "We bring many years of experience in supporting our products worldwide, even in challenging environments. We take pride in sharing our knowledge and expertise, in collaboration with AMS's capabilities and local facilities, to assist the Ukrainian armed forces with our products in active service."
Gabby Costigan, Group Managing Director of Business Development for BAE Systems, emphasized: "By collaborating with AMS's skilled engineers on the ground, we can expedite the restoration of critical artillery equipment, ensuring the Ukrainian armed forces regain operational readiness swiftly. This agreement underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine, building on our establishment of a local entity earlier this year. As we move forward, we will continue exploring the most effective ways to bolster Ukraine's long-term national security."
Gary Riordan, CEO of AMS, shared, "At AMS, we are honored to join forces with BAE Systems to reinforce our commitment to support Ukraine's war effort. This continues to demonstrate the UK’s unwavering support to the people of Ukraine."
Both BAE Systems and AMS possess substantial expertise in supporting medium and large-caliber weapon systems. BAE Systems originally manufactured a significant portion of the equipment supplied to Ukraine by the UK and other governments. The company is currently collaborating with neighboring NATO countries to provide support, training, and repairs to the Ukrainian armed forces.
AMS is a prominent provider of Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul Services to governments, aid agencies, and commercial organizations. AMS already has an agreement with the UK Ministry of Defence to repair platforms in use in Ukraine and has established facilities within the country to carry out this essential work.
