US Army chooses Oshkosh Defense RCV Robotic Combat Vehicle for platform prototype development.

Oshkosh Defense on September 28 announced its selection by the U.S. Army for Phase I of the Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) program, which entails the Platform Prototype Design and Build phase.

Partnering with industry leaders, Oshkosh Defense has formed a consortium comprising Pratt Miller Defense and QinetiQ. In response to the Army's Request for Prototype Proposal in May 2023, the consortium submitted a compelling proposal that has garnered the Army's confidence and endorsement. "We are honored to have been chosen for Phase I of the RCV program," said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer for Oshkosh Defense. "Oshkosh brings to the table a solution that has evolved over time, demonstrating not only maturity but also proven durability and a remarkable capacity to integrate cutting-edge technologies seamlessly – a perfect fit for the ever-changing dynamics of today's battlefield."

The RCVs under development are tracked, autonomous vehicles designed to accommodate a wide array of payloads and advanced weaponry. Their mission-centric modularity ensures adaptability and scalability, enabling seamless customization for various military operations. Oshkosh Defense will showcase at AUSA 2023 scheduled for October 9 to 11.

Oshkosh Defense is committed to delivering excellence within a tight timeline, with the goal of providing two platform prototypes for rigorous Army testing by August 2024. The Army has also indicated its intent to select a single vendor for Phase II, encompassing Full-System Prototype Design and Build, in FY24, underscoring the immense significance of this program.
