The SERHAT Counter Mortar Radar system stands out for its unique capability to provide comprehensive 360° coverage, detecting and tracking mortar shells to accurately determine their points of origin and impact. This is achieved through its sophisticated circular array active antenna structure with electronic scanning capabilities, allowing for the detection of multiple simultaneous fires at distances up to 10 km.

Designed with versatility in mind, the SERHAT radar can be mounted on a tripod, placed atop buildings, or integrated onto vehicles with an extendable mast, demonstrating ASELSAN’s commitment to modular design. The radar system, weighing 250 kg with an 80 cm diameter antenna mounted on a 1-meter mast, ensures rapid deployment in diverse operational contexts.

Since its deployment at the Öncüpinar border crossing in Kilis in 2016, the Turkish armed forces have significantly enhanced their border security capabilities. The SERHAT system, being the first national weapon locating radar with advanced patented radar techniques, has proven itself capable of operating under extreme environmental conditions, detecting enemy mortars even when fired from behind geographical obstacles.

For example, the integration of the L-Band SERHAT CMR on a Cobra Vehicle, equipped with a phase-arrayed cylindrical fixed antenna, exemplifies the system's advanced target acquisition capabilities. With the interior INS/GPS System eliminating the need for calibration, the SERHAT CMR can identify and calculate the impact points of over five mortar shells within a 6 km range with remarkable precision.

Further advancements include the addition of Katyusha missile detection and tracking capabilities, showcasing ASELSAN’s continuous efforts in upgrading its defense technologies.

The presence of the SERHAT Counter Mortar Radar at WDS 2024 underscores the global defense community's interest in advanced radar systems that enhance protective measures against mortar threats. ASELSAN’s contribution to defense technology continues to set new standards in ensuring the safety and security of military forces around the world.
