The Husky 2G emerges from the proven pedigree of the single-operator MK III Husky, expanding its capabilities to a two-operator derivative to accommodate the increasing demands of route clearance missions. This adaptation not only enhances operational efficiency but also integrates a diverse array of sensors and mission equipment, making the Husky 2G a highly versatile sensor platform. Its capability to detect, mark, and interrogate landmines and IED threats is augmented by the addition of advanced detection options like high-sensitivity metal detectors and ground penetrating radar, covering a 3 m wide path during clearance operations.

Designed with resilience at its core, the Husky 2G features a unique engineering approach that allows it to survive blasts and facilitates quick field repairs. This is further supported by the inclusion of the Redpack and Bluepack systems - the former being a spare wheel module trailer and the latter a 20 ft ISO container with first-line maintenance spares - ensuring minimal downtime and maximized system availability.

Mobility and protection are also key aspects of the Husky 2G, featuring all-wheel drive and steer capabilities, automatic transmission for ease of operation, and compliance with STANAG 4560 for fragmentation protection. Its robust driveline, powered by a Mercedes Benz turbo diesel engine, coupled with advanced mobility features like four-wheel steering and a comprehensive suite of optional equipment, including the OWL 360° SA camera system and SWAT III gunshot detection system, enhances its operational effectiveness in challenging environments.

The recent integration of the Route Clearance Platform Autonomous Control Kit (RC-PACK) into the Husky, enabling manned, tele-operational, and autonomous modes, underscores DCD Protected Mobility’s commitment to innovation and its leadership in the development of specialized route clearance vehicles and systems.

In partnership with AirBoss Defense Group, DCD Protected Mobility has successfully type-classified the VMMD System on a US Government Program of Record acquisition, establishing a reliable and consistent source for customers worldwide. This collaboration highlights the global reach and impact of the Husky 2G, setting a new standard for route clearance operations and reinforcing the strategic importance of this advanced vehicle system in modern military and defense strategies.

Located in Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa, DCD Protected Mobility continues to be a frontrunner in providing sustainable products and solutions for the defense and transport sectors, demonstrating a strong commitment to social responsibility and international cooperation.
