Elistair, a manufacturer specializing in long-endurance, tethered unmanned aircraft systems, has officially announced a strategic partnership with Rheinmetall Canada Inc. This collaboration aims to offer military clients a dynamic on-the-move Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) solution. It combines Elistair's cutting-edge, fully automated Khronos tethered drone with Rheinmetall's Mission Master family of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

This partnership was solidified following a highly successful demonstration of the Khronos drone and Rhinmetall's Mission Master SP, an electric-powered UGV tailored for resupply missions, overwatch duties, and payload transport. The demonstration took place before undisclosed European military officials at Rheinmetall Canada's test track in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec.

Guilhem de Marliave, CEO of Elistair, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating: "We are very excited to be collaborating with a major defense contractor like Rheinmetall Canada. By combining their Mission Master family of UGVs with our push-button, long-endurance, automated Khronos drone, Rheinmetall Canada can provide customers with an advanced solution for unmanned reconnaissance and convoy escort."

Elistair initially unveiled the Khronos drone in November 2023. This tethered drone can be deployed from a transportable dronebox in less than two minutes and can remain airborne for up to 24 hours continuously, even when operating from a moving platform. It provides uninterrupted day and night coverage of an area with a radius of 10 kilometers.

Weighing 30 kg (66 pounds), the Khronos drone is capable of flying in adverse weather conditions and in GPS/GNSS-denied and RF-denied environments. Additionally, its advanced automated features make it user-friendly, reducing the need for extensive training of drone operators, as highlighted by Guilhem de Marliave.

Alain Tremblay, VP of Business Development and Innovation at Rheinmetall Canada, emphasized the versatility of the Mission Master UGVs in carrying various ISR payloads. He also noted the unique advantages of the Khronos drone, which has garnered international interest due to its innovative adaptability to both current and future complex operational theaters.

The first deliveries of the Khronos dronebox are scheduled for March 2024, marking an important milestone in this collaborative endeavor.
