The World Defense Show (WDS) 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has once again proven to be a focal point for global defense innovation and technology. This year's event has seen a spectacular array of exhibits and announcements, but among the highlights is the impressive showcase by ST Engineering from Singapore, the significant advancements of the Saudi defense industry, and the groundbreaking unveiling of the SAMI 8x8 155mm self-propelled howitzer.

ST Engineering from Singapore made a notable impact at WDS 2024 with its comprehensive presentation of defense products, including the much-anticipated unveiling of the ExtremV, a new all-terrain amphibious vehicle designed for challenging environments. This innovation underscores ST Engineering's commitment to advancing mobility and versatility in defense technologies.

The Saudi defense industry demonstrated its robust advancements and growing contributions to global security. Among the noteworthy participants, ERAF showcased its extensive range of combat vehicles and the Alakran mortar system, highlighting the kingdom's capabilities in manufacturing and defense innovation.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the unveiling of the new SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries) 8x8 155mm self-propelled howitzer, marking a significant milestone in artillery technology. Fully designed and developed within Saudi Arabia, this platform represents a major leap forward in self-propelled artillery, combining mobility, firepower, and precision.

Additionally, SAMI also showcased a comprehensive range of wheeled armored vehicles, including a new version of the LAV-25 8x8 armored vehicle, developed in collaboration with General Dynamics. This expansion into various defense platforms illustrates SAMI's ambition and expertise in the defense sector.

The Saudi Army and National Guard displayed an impressive array of military combat vehicles at WDS 2024. From the Chunmoo Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and Sherpa 4x4 armored vehicles to the LAV 700 8x8 fitted with a 105mm John Cockerill turret, the exhibits showcased the kingdom's advanced military capabilities. The National Guard's presentation of French Soframe armored vehicles and the CAESAR howitzer further demonstrated Saudi Arabia's strategic defense assets.
