The KRAMPUS Mk1 is powered by two electric motors, mounted on the front and rear axles, delivering up to 60 kW of power. The vehicle can travel up to 1,000 km when utilizing the diesel generator, with its velocity capped at 120 km/h. The modular design of the vehicle allows for the separation of the frame, driveline, battery pack, and diesel generator, facilitating quicker replacements and maintenance in field conditions. The hybrid diesel powertrain and 39 kWh battery pack ensure reduced fuel consumption and the capability to use both diesel and JP8 fuel, making it a flexible option for various missions.
This vehicle is partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the "Experiment" measure, highlighting its innovative and experimental nature. It operates in three modes: regular, remote, and autonomous. The remote control mode allows operation within a direct line of sight up to 1 km, while the autonomous mode enables the vehicle to follow a leading vehicle or person, navigate pre-defined routes, and respond to obstacles.
The KRAMPUS Mk1's design focuses on robustness and utility, featuring a special chassis to increase load capacity and a construction suitable for harsh environments. It integrates an intelligent hybrid drive control system, ensuring optimal performance and durability. The hybrid electric power system offers silent mobility, crucial for operations requiring stealth such as border monitoring, nature protection, and tactical missions. The vehicle's low thermal signature is achieved through a specialized cooling system and a battery conditioning system, reducing its detectability in electric mode.
In addition to its operational capabilities, the KRAMPUS Mk1 can power auxiliary equipment, including electro-optics, sensors, video or thermal cameras, and radiation and chemical pollution measurement devices. Its environmentally friendly transmission system produces low noise levels and a reduced CO2 footprint, aligning with modern ecological standards.
The introduction of the KRAMPUS Mk1 at Eurosatory 2024 demonstrates the constructor's commitment to advancing hybrid vehicle technology. As this vehicle enters various markets, it is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of security forces, industrial operators, and environmental monitoring agencies.
