Kalashnikov to Deliver KUB-E Loitering Munitions to an International Client.

The Kalashnikov Group, one of Russia's leading arms manufacturers, has signed its first international contract for the delivery of KUB-E (UB) guided munitions to a foreign customer. This deal, brokered by Rosoboronexport, marks a significant milestone for the company as it extends its offerings beyond the domestic market.

The KUB-E, already recognized for its operational effectiveness, has demonstrated its combat capabilities in real conditions, particularly in areas covered by air defense systems. This loitering munition is designed to neutralize both individual and group armored vehicles, enabling precise strikes deep within enemy lines. Its versatility allows it to operate both day and night, even under adverse weather conditions, such as wind gusts of up to 10 meters per second.

The system's control architecture allows for real-time command transmission, enhancing its tactical utility on the battlefield. After passing state tests in November 2021, the KUB-E was cleared for wider distribution in 2022, making it a key asset for both Russian forces and international clients.

Kalashnikov’s production capacity ensures that the company can meet both domestic and international demand without compromising its obligations within Russia. This international expansion is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the export potential of Kalashnikov’s defense products, while simultaneously meeting the needs of Russia's armed forces.

The KUB-E is a loitering munition developed by Zala Aero, a subsidiary of Kalashnikov. It is a kamikaze drone designed for high-precision strikes against land and maritime targets. With a wingspan of 1.21 meters, a length of 0.95 meters, and a payload capacity of 3 kg, the KUB-E can destroy infrastructure, lightly armored vehicles, and human targets. Its attack mode involves a silent flight and a vertical descent onto the target, allowing it to strike vulnerable areas, such as the top of tanks where the armor is thinner.

The KUB-E can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h and remain airborne for up to 30 minutes, allowing it to loiter over the target before striking. The system relies on real-time image recognition and is capable of operating both day and night, even in challenging weather conditions. It is often used in areas with active air defense, due to its ability to evade conventional radar systems.

First introduced at the IDEX 2019 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, the KUB-E has since been tested in real combat scenarios, proving its operational effectiveness. Its naval version also allows for launches from fast boats, expanding its potential in various combat environments.
