One of the key improvements in the IZH-182 is the introduction of a clamp-type lock for the ejector, which simplifies and speeds up the assembly and disassembly of the pistol. This design update makes the pistol more user-friendly, particularly during maintenance.

The inertial safety unit has been relocated to the trigger to enhance safety and reliability further. Additionally, the striker interceptor unit has been redesigned to improve both manufacturability and maintenance.

Accuracy has also been a focus in this upgrade. The width of the rear sight slot has been adjusted to enhance precision, and a new modification now allows for the installation of collimator sights through adapter platforms, catering to the needs of competitive shooters.

Other refinements include changes to the magazine catch button, reducing the force required for operation, and a streamlined return mechanism, which now uses a single variable-profile spring instead of the previous three-spring system. Additionally, modifications to the feeder and magazine body neck facilitate easier magazine loading, a crucial aspect in the fast-paced environment of sports shooting.

These improvements not only enhance the pistol's performance but also increase the efficiency of its production. The IMZ designers are expected to complete the modernization process and conduct standard tests by the end of 2024, with the IZH-182 already being manufactured in limited quantities.

The upgraded IZH-182 reflects Kalashnikov's commitment to innovation and responsiveness to user feedback, ensuring that the pistol meets the demands of both sports shooters and the broader firearms market.
