Responding to Ukraine's requests for assistance, Lithuania had previously delivered 155 mm ammunition in early March 2024 and decided to allocate 35 million euros to contribute to a multilateral initiative led by the Czech Republic for the procurement and transfer of artillery ammunition to Ukraine.

The defense support provided by Lithuania to Ukraine to date encompasses a wide range of military aid, including various weapons, ammunition, unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-drone systems, soldier training, heavy machinery repair, and all other support requested by Ukraine according to its expressed needs.

Furthermore, Lithuania has committed to a long-term support plan for Ukraine, outlining a military aid package worth 200 million euros for new acquisitions scheduled for the years 2024–2026. Since the onset of the conflict, Lithuania's total military assistance to Ukraine has amounted to approximately 605 million euros, underscoring its steadfast commitment to Ukraine's defense and regional stability.

The M577 is a type of armored command post vehicle, part of the M113 family of armored personnel carriers. It is designed to provide a mobile and secure command post for military commanders on the battlefield. Unlike the standard M113 APC, which is primarily used to transport troops, the M577 is equipped with communication equipment, workstations, and map boards to facilitate command and control operations.

The M577 modified hull, raised to accommodate standing personnel, enables effective planning and management of military operations directly from the field. The vehicle is also equipped with various defensive measures to ensure the safety of the personnel inside, making it an essential asset for coordinating military efforts in combat zones.
