The M1026, a liaison, reconnaissance, and exploration vehicle (VERE), is at the heart of this new fleet. Designed to operate in demanding environments, the M1026 is equipped with state-of-the-art gear suitable for reconnaissance and exploration missions. It can carry up to four people, including the driver, and is equipped for mounting both light and heavy weapons. Its configuration allows for the installation of 40 mm MK-19 grenade launchers, FN Herstal Mag, and HK21 7.62 mm machine guns, as well as .50 caliber Browning M2 heavy machine guns, making the M1026 ideal for both offensive and defensive operations. The modularity of its equipment and its adaptable armor make it a key player in military operations, capable of rapidly responding to various threats.

The M1038, locally designated as the Troop Transport Vehicle (VTP), represents another essential component of this upgrade. This vehicle is specifically designed for the transport of troops and equipment, offering great flexibility in use across various operational scenarios. Its ability to carry multiple soldiers while being armed for defense makes the M1038 a vital tool for the rapid deployment of forces and logistical support in the field. The presence of an opening for an armored turret and the possibility of mounting heavy weapons increase its tactical value, ensuring both the protection and firepower necessary during engagements.

The acquisition of M1026 and M1038 by the Mexican Army illustrates a clear strategy to enhance its mobility, reconnaissance, and logistical support capabilities. By integrating these vehicles into its fleet, Mexico seeks to maintain an agile defense force, capable of operating effectively throughout the republic to ensure internal security. This modernization reflects a proactive approach to contemporary challenges, ensuring that the Mexican Army remains equipped to meet the needs of its diversified missions, from border surveillance to assistance during natural disasters.
