Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, delivered remarks during the inaugural meeting, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the ambitious project and acknowledging the pivotal role played by Poland in hosting this critical initiative.

Stefanishyna emphasized the importance of JATEC as an additional structural element for Ukraine's integration into NATO, envisioning it as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative problem-solving. She underscored the necessity of ensuring adequate resource support for the Centre to achieve its ambitious objectives, particularly in addressing security challenges amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Practically, Stefanishyna urged the project team to prioritize issues relevant to the security and defense sector, emphasizing the importance of leveraging practical knowledge and experience to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities across various domains, including land, air, sea, and cyberspace.

The decision to establish JATEC stemmed from a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of Defense Ministers on February 15, 2024. The Centre's mandate encompasses joint analysis and synthesis of defense and security experiences, enhancing training and military education systems, promoting interoperability, and developing the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
