Designed to provide robust close aerial protection, the LD35 is hailed as the new generation self-propelled air defense system by NORINCO. It is equipped to serve as an autonomous, mobile, and all-weather air defense system, offering aerial defense for vital areas and mobile units. The system is primarily aimed at intercepting a wide range of threats, including fixed-wing aircraft, armed helicopters, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), especially those attacking from medium, low, and ultra-low altitudes.

One of the key features of the LD35 is its 35mm AA gun and missile integrated system, which enhances its capability to counter not only aerial threats but also cruise missiles and ground targets effectively. The inclusion of a single-barreled 35mm rotary gun, equipped with a muzzle velocity measurement and a fixed coil, further underscores the system's advanced engineering and firepower.
