The order includes the delivery of 22 155 mm caliber weapon systems and an equal number of chassis for the PzH 2000, showcasing Rheinmetall’s capacity as a leading expert in 155 mm artillery weapons. Known for its innovation in weapon and ammunition technology, including the renowned 120 mm smoothbore cannon for battle tanks, the company continues to bolster its reputation as a reliable partner in the defense sector.

The Bundeswehr’s decision to procure these additional units from Rheinmetall underscores the ongoing confidence in the quality and reliability of the PzH 2000 system. Continually enhanced since its development in the late 20th century, the PzH 2000 is celebrated for its superior mobility, long-range firing capabilities, and robust protection. Its effectiveness and precision are currently being proven on the battlefields of Ukraine, thus attesting to the system's performance.

The Panzerhaubitze 2000, more commonly known as the PzH 2000, is a self-propelled howitzer designed and manufactured in Germany. Armed with a 155 mm caliber 52 gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun, this howitzer combines firepower and protection. It is designed to offer protection against small arms fire as well as artillery shell splinters, ensuring the safety of its crew in combat conditions.

Weighing 55,330 kg in combat conditions, the PzH 2000 can reach a maximum road speed of 60 km/h and has a range of up to 420 km without refueling, making it effective for long-range missions. It measures 11.66 meters in length, 3.58 meters in width, and 3.46 meters in height.

Operated by a crew of five, the howitzer is equipped with cutting-edge technologies to maximize its operational effectiveness. It features a fire control computer system, panoramic day/night sight, laser rangefinder, and day/night direct fire sight, allowing for high precision in targeting and engagement. Additionally, it is equipped with an NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) protection system, further increasing its resilience on the battlefield.

The PzH 2000 is currently in service in several countries around the world, including Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Qatar, and Ukraine. This widespread adoption attests to its reputation as one of the most advanced and reliable artillery systems in the world, capable of meeting the demands of modern conflicts with its unique combination of firepower, mobility, and protection.

Rheinmetall's involvement in this project not only reaffirms its status as a global leader in the defense manufacturing sector but also signifies Bundeswehr's ongoing trust in the company's advanced technology and manufacturing expertise. The delivery of the first of these advanced artillery systems is scheduled for the summer of 2025, following the final system integration and commissioning at Rheinmetall's facility in Unterluess.
