The World Defense Show (WDS) 2024 in Saudi Arabia served as a showcase for new technology in the defense sector, capturing the attention of professionals and governments worldwide. Among the equipment presented was the Ural, a tactical armored vehicle designed and manufactured by Otokar, a company based in Türkiye.

Otokar is a leading Turkish company specializing in the design and manufacture of military. Established in 1963, Otokar operates within the Koç Group, one of Turkey's largest conglomerates. The company is renowned for its wide range of products, including tactical wheeled vehicles and armored personnel carriers.

Otokar combines advanced technology with innovative engineering to create reliable and high-performance vehicles suited for both military and commercial use. Its military vehicles are known for their mobility, durability, and adaptability to diverse combat and environmental conditions, making them popular choices among armed forces around the world. Otokar's commitment to quality and its focus on research and development has cemented its position as a key player in the global defense and automotive industries.

The Ural is designed to carry a team of eight, including two crew members and six infantrymen, providing an optimal platform for reconnaissance, patrol, or assault missions. This vehicle is built to operate in challenging environments, equipped with an air conditioning system, a raised air intake, run-flat tires, a smoke extractor, a spare wheel carrier, an emergency exit hatch, and an engine fire suppression system, making it particularly resilient under demanding combat conditions.

The Ural's armament can be customized to meet specific user needs, ranging from a 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, or 12.7 mm machine gun to a remotely controlled weapon station (RCWS) armed with a 7.62 mm machine gun. This flexibility in armament allows armed forces to optimize the vehicle for various operational scenarios. Additionally, the Ural provides effective protection against shrapnel from grenades and anti-personnel mines, ensuring the safety of the crew and infantrymen onboard.

Weighing between 6,400 kg for the 168 HP model and 8,000 kg for the 250 HP version, the Ural boasts impressive mobility, capable of reaching a top speed of 110 km/h. Its operational range is 600 km, allowing it to carry out extended missions without the need for frequent refueling.

The vehicle's compact dimensions, with a length of 4.9 meters, a width of 2.2 meters, and a height ranging between 2.44 meters for the 168 HP model and 2.48 meters for the 250 HP model, enhance its maneuverability in urban settings or rugged terrain.

The exhibition provided an exceptional platform to highlight the capabilities of the Ural, strengthening its position in the international defense and security market.
