Since the end of 2021, the Spanish National Police has shown interest in the Scorpion EVO3 A1, a model developed by the Czech company Ceska Zbrojovka (CZ). Previous purchases, totaling nearly 2,000 units, reflect confidence in the capabilities of this weapon. The first order, made at the end of 2021 for 460 units at 920,000 euros, and the second in August 2023, reflect a coherent and forward-looking armament strategy.

The Scorpion EVO3 A1 stands out for its features tailored to the needs of rapid intervention units. Its advantages include superior ergonomics, high shooting accuracy in all modes (single shot, three-round burst, and automatic), and exceptional reliability in various climatic conditions. The innovative design of this weapon facilitates its disassembly and integrates extensive use of durable polymer materials.

The weapon is standardly equipped with adjustable mechanical sights with a diopter rear sight, but in practice, it is most often used with optical sights that allow for effective and precise shooting at distances up to 250 meters.

The length of the folding stock can be adjusted with an extendable buttplate. The overall dimensions of the weapon can be quickly reduced by completely removing the stock.

The adjustable cocking lever is not connected to the slide, so there is no risk of it colliding with the shooter's hand. After firing the last cartridge, the slide remains locked in the rear position and can be released by the control on the left side of the trigger mechanism housing or by briefly pulling it back with the cocking lever. The magazine catch is easily accessible from both sides, and the funnel-shaped mouth of the magazine well enables extremely fast reloading.

Equipped with a magazine that can hold 30 cartridges and four mounting rails for various accessories, the Scorpion EVO 3 A1 is designed to meet modern tactical requirements. Its fiberglass-reinforced polymer structure, telescopic stock, and adjustable pistol grip make it a viable option for a variety of security operations.

The 9x19 caliber, used by the Scorpion EVO3 A1, is recognized for its versatility and effectiveness. This ammunition is a standard for NATO and is used by many military forces around the world, offering a balanced combination of stopping power and penetration capability.

Ceska Zbrojovka offers a wide range of accessories for the Scorpion EVO3 A1, ranging from transparent plastic magazines to various tactical devices such as lights, laser sights, and transport harnesses. A silencer and an adapter for simulation cartridges are also available, thus increasing the options for training and field operations.
