Indumil initially unveiled the XUÉ 1000 at the F-Air 2019 fair in Ríonegro, Colombia, and it has since successfully completed preliminary technical laboratory tests, confirming its effectiveness. In 2021, it underwent a validation phase, conducted in collaboration with the FAC, which included 13 test launches on designated ranges to assess its performance and effectiveness.
The XUÉ 1000, also designated as Bomba MK 1,000 lbs or MK aircraft bomb 1,000 lb by Indumil, was developed to offer users a precise tool for neutralizing specific targets while minimizing collateral damage. Its design caters to high-value strategic targets, allowing for adaptability in both neutralization and destruction roles. Additionally, the bomb can integrate with Griffin and Paveway guidance systems, enhancing its targeting capabilities.
The XUÉ 1000 belongs to the Mk-type limited-effect bombs category and is equipped with TNT explosives. It features an adaptability fuse developed by Indumil and non-welded securing bolts. The IMC XUÉ 1000 LB-BEL can be equipped with laser or GPS guiding systems and carries an explosive load of 200 kg of TNT. It measures a total length of 2,920 mm and has a body diameter of 356 mm, conforming to NATO standards. Additionally, it incorporates a conical base of low resistance, with dimensions of 500 mm in depth, 1031 mm in length, and a weight of 21 kilograms.
The IMC XUÉ 1000 LB-BEL is outfitted with an IMC EEN-1 nose pad and an IMC EEC-2 cola cup, both designed for a 10-year lifespan. These components can be activated either through a percussion mechanism triggered by deceleration or impact. Furthermore, they offer multiple options for arming times, ranging from 2 to 12 seconds, providing flexibility in deployment. The safety device also includes a mechanical locking mechanism.
Indumil's experience in this domain is evident through over a decade of investment in the development of these large-scale bombs, as the introduction of the XUÉ 1000 complements Indumil's existing XUÉ bomb family, which includes variants of 125, 250, and 500 pounds. These munitions, launched from combat aircraft operated by the Colombian Air Force, have demonstrated operational success in various missions, including counterinsurgency, counterterrorism, and counter-narcotics operations.
