October 21, 2011 at 11:30 am, during a ceremony in Lorient, DCNS has
officially delivered the new generation offshore patrol vessel L’Adroit
to the French Navy.The Vice-Admiral Xavier Magne, commander of the Force
d’Action Navale (Naval Action Force) representing the Chief of
Staff of the Navy, then chaired the first ceremony of colors. He recognized
Commander Guyot Loïc as captain of the ship.
Signed in October 2010 at the Euronaval naval show, the agreement on this new OPV
is a “win-win” industrial partnership:
- The French Navy is providing the crew of the vessel, gains operational
experience at sea on this type of ship and develops an ability to experiment
a range of new systems (optronics, communications, drones, etc.).
- DCNS, which developed the vessel with its own funds and retains its
ownership, will benefit from the feedback of an experienced Navy and
will be able to label as "sea proven" this ship for export
markets.
L’Adroit is made available to the French Navy for three years
and will be used as part of its regular maritime security missions (rescue
at sea, fight against illegal immigration, fight against pollution,
fight against drug trafficking, maritime surveillance). |
Milestones of the building:
- May 7, 2010: first steel cut
- May 18, 2011: Launch (civilian crew with some sailors in support)
- July 27, 2011: first sea trials
- September 5, 2011: creation of a French Navy crew
- 21 October 2011: delivery to the French Navy
- End of October: Start of military characteristics verification

- Capacités: free helicopter HLO 5 tonnes (Dauphin / Panther)
- Crew: 32 (with accomodations for 27 passengers). From April 2012, the
building will operate with two crews (rotating every 4 months).
- Armament: one 20mm gun, two 12.7mm machine guns, water cannons. |
