Yonca-Onuk JV is the designer and builder of ONUK MRTP Advanced composites fast patrol boats. The shipyard, established in 1986, is located in Tuzla, Istanbul has 12.500m2 covered area and air-conditioned composite production shops. Yonca-Onuk has the capacity to build high-speed boats up to 50m in length and 300 tonnes displacement in advanced composites. The production is in full compliance to AQAP–2110 NATO Quality Assurance System, with engineering and production conform to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) HSLC classification rules.

To the date, Yonca-Onuk Joint Venture has built and delivered more than 80 Fast Patrol/Attack boat for various customers in Turkey and around the world. The number is expected to reach 130 by 2013. Starting the ONUK MRTP Program in 1997 by the “Kaan15” class ONUK MRTP15’s of the Turkish Coast Guard, Yonca-Onuk is actually building the ONUK MRTP16’s (17,75m; 70 knots), the ONUK MRTP20’s (22,55m; 60 knots), ONUK MRTP22/U’s (24,08m; 55knots), ONUK MRTP29 (31,65m; 47 knots) and ONUK MRTP33’s (35,65m; 44 knots) for Turkish and foreign customers. .

In 2009 Yonca-Onuk JV was awarded the contract to supply thirty-four (34) ONUK MRTP16 (17,75m, 65+ knots) Fast Intervention Craft to Critical National Infrastructure Authority of UAE. The ONUK MRTP16’s are going to be equipped with the Aselsan STAMP stabilized weapon platform with 12.7mm MG or GAU-19 Gatling gun, a world premiere for this gun on a stabilized turret. Twelve interceptors are to be built at Yonca-Onuk facilities in Turkiye and twenty-two (22) units are to be built by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) of UAE. with ten (10) units already been delivered, the project is planned to be completed in two years. MMEA of Malaysia has recently ordered 10 (ten) units of ONUK MRTP16. Two (4) boats have already been delivered and others are under construction and planned to be delivered in 20 months.

Pakistani Navy ONUK MRTP33
     
Besides the recent contract with the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defense Industry (SSM) to supply 17 ONUK MRTP20 to the Turkish Coast Guard, in the scope of another ongoing open ended contract, Yonca-Onuk JV will supply six (6) ONUK MRTP20 Improved Fast Intervention Craft to the Egyptian Navy. To start the project, three (3) units will be built in Yonca-Onuk Facilities in Turkiye and three (3) units will be built in Alexandria Shipyard of Egypt with full assistance of Yonca-Onuk JV. First two boats were delivered and others are under construction and planned to be delivered in two (2) years.

Yonca-Onuk JV has recently signed a contract to deliver three(3) units of ONUK MRTP34 Fast Patrol/Attack Craft and three(3) units of ONUK MRTP16 Fast Intervention Craft to the Qatar Armed Forces. The boats are under construction and planned to be delivered in two years.

Winning the contract of the “Special Operation Craft for Turkish Navy Seals” Yonca-Onuk JV designed, built and delivered in less than two years two units of ONUK MRTP22/U to the Turkish Navy. The ONUK MRTP22/U is aiming to exceed the performance (speed and sea keeping) envelops of the known-to-exist or to-be-in-design special operation craft in the world. The development program of the ONUK MRTP22/24 hull gave way to the Fast Attack Craft (FAC), a state-of-the-art FAC aiming the qualitative superiority in brown waters. With a top speed exceeding 60 knots, an extraordinary sea-keeping and powerful weapon systems the ONUK MRTP24 FAC nicknamed “Kangal” (Anatolian Shepherd) equipped with Aselsan weapons and network-centric multi-layered AMICOS combat management system would also impose itself as the ultimate solution against for the increasing terror in the seas created by the modern pirates nowadays.

Today Yonca-Onuk is in the process of developing the missile-capable ONUK MRTP44 (47m, 50+ knots) planned to be launched by 2013. The advanced composites ONUK MRTP44 would be a “pocket corvette” with speed, sea-keeping, weapons and systems that would make shy a corvette.

With their very high speed, high maneuverability, superior sea keeping and shallow water capabilities, ONUK MRTP® boats are ideally suited for the mastery of the brown waters as well as the open seas. The flexible concept and state-of-the-art design will allow the installation of different surveillance, observation, rescue and weapon systems to perform military and paramilitary missions. Advanced composite structures allow built-in capabilities such as low signature levels, very low life cycle operation cost and a great flexibility of adaptation.
