From
February to May 2014, the Jean Bart was already been deployed
in the Indian Ocean as part of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), which
aims to fight against terrorism and illegal trafficking in the Indian
Ocean area. On this occasion, the Jean Bart was attached for
about ten days to the US Navy Carrier Battle Group (CVBG) formed around
aircraft carrier USS Bush. For this specific deployement, the anti-aircraft frigate Jean Bart and her crew of about 250 sailors will join a French force consisting of 9 Rafale jets, a C135-FR tanker aircraft and an Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft as part of Operation Chammal.
