Talking
to Navy Recognition, Christie Thomas (Director of Business
Development at Ingalls Shipbuilding) explained that the patrol frigate
may be fitted with an integrated mast (as shown on the model) or a more
traditional mast similar to the one found on the NSC.
The patrol frigate would be able to reach a speed of over 28 knots with
the same proven sea-keeping capabilities as the NSC.
In the case of an export contract, thanks to the flexibility of the
patrol frigate HII would be able to integrate most sensor, weapon as
well as combat management systems according to customer requirements.
HII already worked on the possible integration of the TACTICOS combat
system by Thales.
Regarding the domestic (US) market, the requirements of the U.S. Navy
for a Small Surface Combatant ship are not out yet, but HII is interested
in offering its patrol frigate as an option. |
