At
NAVDEX 2015, OceanScan – Marine Systems & Technology Lda of
Portugal showcased its LAUV. The LAUV is a Lightweight (one-man-portable)
Autonomous Underwater Vehicle designed to be affordable as it requires
only limited logistics. Based on a modular design, the platform is built
to be robust and reliable. |
LAUV
operation does not require extensive training as it can be easily launched,
operated and recovered with minimal setup.
LAUV is an affordable, innovative, highly operational and effective
surveying tool. Developed by the Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologia
Subaquática from Porto University, one of the leading underwater
robotics laboratories in Europe. It has been further developed in cooperation
with OceanScan.
The LAUV system has been deployed and operated in different places and
environments, accumulating thousands of hours of real-world operation.
Its application comprehends a wide spectrum of scenarios.
Typical applications of OceanScan LAUV:
Mine Counter Measures (MCM)
Security & Surveillance
Search & Recovery
Underwater Archeology
Pipeline Inspection
Hydrographic Surveys
Near-Synoptic Oceanographic Observations
Plume Mapping
Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA)
Pre/Post Dredging Bottom Mapping
Academic Research
Navy Recognition learned that OceanScan's LAUV is already used
by the Portuguese Navy. |
