Boustead
DCNS Naval Corporation (BDNC), a Joint Venture between BOUSTEAD and
DCNS, was set up in June 2009 for the In-Service Support of the two
Royal Malaysian Navy Submarines.
To enhance the Malaysian strategic self-reliance and local participation,
a unique transfer of Know-How programme was implemented in order to
develop a high level of quality services in the respect of the Submarine
Safety Rules and ISS obligations.
BDNC, through its industrial organization, supports and develops local
industries. Up to now, more than 30 local companies have been involved
and operate in the Submarine maintenance activities. Presently, training
is ongoing for new personnel and covers specialties such as electricity,
mechanics, hydraulics and current training for workers involved in the
first Refit of each submarine Scorpene which will start by end of 2015.
BDNC will continue to support the Malaysian capacity-building in the
Submarines, repairs and maintenance sector and targets to achieve 95%
of local competencies by June 2017. |
