French Navy aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle strike group to deploy for operations against IS
 
The French presidency just announced that the French Navy's aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is about to deploy to the Persian Gulf to participate in the coalition operations against the Islamic State (IS). This will be the second time the flagship of the Marine Nationale is deployed against IS after taking part to coalition operations earlier this year alongside the U.S. Navy.

The Charles de Gaulle may deploy 30 aircraft including the Rafale M, Super Etendard Modernisé and E-2C Hawkeye.

France was the first country to join the U.S.-led coalition in air strikes in Iraq against the Islamic State when it launched "Operation Chammal" on September 19th.
